Colorado Cancer Checkoff Fund Awards $ 40,000 in Grants Across State

Denver, Colo. (PRWEB) December 12, 2011

The Breast and Women’s Reproductive Cancers (BWRC) Fund announced today that it has awarded $ 40,000 in grants to organizations across Colorado. The grants provide critical support to help more people surviving with breast and women’s reproductive cancers by expanding vital education, screening, diagnostic, and quality of life services throughout Colorado.

“We are very grateful to the residents of Colorado that made the grants possible by donating a portion of their state income tax refunds to the Breast and Women’s Reproductive Cancers Fund,” said Vicki Tosher, chair of the BWRC Fund Advisory Board. “We urge taxpayers to checkoff Line 37 when filling out their 2011 taxes. During such tough times, charitable donations are needed more than ever.”

Grant recipients are selected by the BWRC Fund Advisory Board and are awarded between $ 3,000-$ 5,000. At least one grant was awarded within each of the five Colorado Cancer Coalition regions: Southeast, Southwest, Northwest, Northeast, and the Denver metro area.

The following organizations are 2011 BWRC grant recipients: Clinica Tepeyac, Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance, Mt. Evans Home Health Care & Hospice, Peak Vista Health Centers, Project Angel Heart, Sense of Security, Spanish Peaks Outreach Clinic, Sunrise Monfort Family Clinic, Valley-Wide Health Systems and the Women’s Resource Center.
